2 people died – Spokesperson
On the Balıkesir-Manisa highway, 2 people were killed and 6 people were injured in the accident that occurred as a result of the car hitting the truck driving in the same direction from behind.
The accident occurred at around 18:00 on the Balikesir Manisa highway. The truck under the direction of Yaşar Akdağ, which was moving from Balıkesir to the direction of Manisa, was hit from behind by the car under the command of Bekir Şevik, which was traveling in the same direction.
After the accident, firefighters, police, gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the scene upon the notice made by other drivers.
It was determined that Hatice Taş (49) and Hasibe Şevik (37) who were in the car by the paramedics died at the scene.
Yiğit Selim Ceylan (46), Mehmet Şevik (8), Sevgi Şahan (40), Miray Şevik (2), Ebrar Tenekeci (17) and driver Bekir Şevik, who were also in the car, were also injured. The injured, who were removed from the vehicle by the fire brigade team, were taken to various hospitals in Balıkesir by the medical teams.
The bodies of Hasibe Şevik and Hatice Taş, who lost their lives in the accident, were also taken to the Balıkesir Atatürk City Hospital morgue. An investigation into the accident was initiated by the Gendarmerie. (DHA)
