According to initial reports, 100 people lost their lives and 150 people were injured in a fire that broke out in a wedding hall in Mosul, Iraq.
According to the news of the Iraqi news agency INA, based on a source from the Mosul Health Department, a fire broke out in a wedding hall in the Hamdaniye district of Mosul for an unknown reason. Authorities stated that the fireworks used during the wedding may have caused the fire.
But a short time later, the regional governorship announced to the British news agency Reuters that 113 people had died. Official institutions also corrected the death toll to “at least 100”
It is not yet known whether the bride and groom are alive.
While the number of people injured in the fire was first announced as 150, it was soon announced that the number of injured was 500.

The fire that broke out at the wedding caused great panic.

Imad Yohana, a 34-year-old guest who survived the fire, said, “We suddenly saw the flames rising. We managed to escape outside, but some remained inside. “Those who managed to get out were also injured,” he said. It was also stated that the fire occurred around 22.45 local time.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani made a statement on social media platforms. “The Minister of Internal Affairs and the Minister of Health directed all their strength to this region to help those affected by this unfortunate incident,” he said in the statement. Ministry of Health Spokesperson Saif al-Bedr said, “We mobilized all our strength to help those affected by this unfortunate accident.”
