A new Class40 for Ian Lipinski and Crédit Mutuel

A month and a half from the Route du Rhumwhose start will be given on November 6 in Saint-Malo, Crédit Mutuel and Ian Lipinski are already planning on following and announce to extend the adventure until Rhum 2026, still in Class40 (12.19 m monohulls).

It was also decided to build a new boat signed David Raison, the architect of its current monohull, the first Class40 of the scow type (with a rounded bow) launched in 2019. At the helm of this innovative boat, Lipinski has won three victories including the Transat Jacques-Vabre 2019 (double-handed with Adrien Hardy). At the beginning of November in Saint-Malo, he will be one of the favorites in his category alongside Yoann Richomme, Antoine Carpentier, Xavier Macaire, Luke Berry, Ambrogio Beccaria, Corentin Douguet...

“This will be an opportunity to strengthen our team and put our innovation capabilities to the test. »

Construction of the new mount will begin in late 2023-early 2024 with an expected launch in late 2024. “Since 2018, the partnership with Crédit Mutuel has given me the necessary impetus for the construction and success of a sports project based on a technological breakthrough”recalls Ian Lipinski, who proposed a project Vendee Globe not retained by his partner who preferred to continue in Class40.

"At one point, I wanted to do the Vendée but I moved on and I'm happy to continue in this class and make a version 2 of the boat, adds the double winner of the Mini-Transat (in series in 2015, in prototype in 2017). Extending the adventure and laying the foundations for a new boat is a decisive new step for me and for my company SeaPossible. This will be an opportunity to strengthen our team and put our innovation capabilities to the test. »

For Daniel Baal, CEO of Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale, “Ian Lipinski and his team were able to translate and embody the human and technological adventure claimed by the Skipper Crédit Mutuel project by even going beyond our expectations. Today, Ian is not only a water standard bearer for our mutual bank, but he is also an active player in the Agora of members, the Group's collaborative platform. »
