The San Francisco Opera will present the premiere of the (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, a representation which traces the life of the technology genius, co-founder and former CEO of Apple. During the piece, the audience will be transported by a series of 90-minute electroacoustic “non-linear flashback” episodes.

Director Kevin Newbury and Michael Christie, who heads the San Francisco Opera orchestra and chorus cast, will direct the production. On the distribution side, baritone John Moore will play the protagonist Steve Jobs. Mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke will play the role of the billionaire Laurene Powell Jobs, widow of the entrepreneur. The public will discover Wei Wu in the character of Jobs’ spiritual advisor, Kōbun Chino Otogawa, tenor Bille Bruley in the role of the co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniakand soprano Olivia Smith as Jobs’ girlfriend, Chrisann Brennan.

There (R)evolution of Steve Jobs will be played until October 7 at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco. The performance will also be broadcast live on the Opera’s official website on September 27 and will be available on demand for 48 hours.
