The news caused a stir last May. And for good reason, a 28-year-old young woman at the head of a large French company, it doesn’t happen every day. Four months after this announcement, Agathe Monpays today officially took over the reins of Leroy Merlin.
HAS the head of the do-it-yourself and decoration brandAgathe Monpay’s “mission is to continue the momentum towards a platform company for positive housing” and must in particular work on “new solutions for housing, including energy renovation”, indicated Leroy Merlin last May.
A lightning ascent
The recent graduate of IESEG Lille (in 2016) is also “in charge of strengthening the attractiveness of the brand, which has been one of the top 3 favorite brands of the French for several years”. The 28-year-old arrives at this position after a lightning rise in the Mulliez group, a powerful family that owns many well-known brands in France, such as Auchan, Bakeror Kiabi.
Agathe Monpays is expected, at only 28 years old, at the head of the French branch of Leroy Merlin in September.
She has spent her entire career with the brands of the Mulliez family, which notably owns the DIY brand.

First work-study for two years as a marketing project manager within the Happychic textile group (Bizzbee, Brice, Jules), Agathe Monpays then cut her teeth at Leroy Merlin from 2016 as sector manager in Valenciennes (Nord), then store manager in Tourcoing, before moving up another level in 2022 and taking over as head of the brand in Greece and Cyprus.
A little over a year later, she officially took over as head of Leroy Merlin France this Friday. And if many commentators suspected the new 28-year-old boss of belonging to the Mulliez family, owner of the Adeo group and the Leroy Merlin brand, it is not so.
