How to reconcile the production of renewable solar or wind electricity, which is by nature intermittent, with the constant energy needs of customers? It is partly to answer this question that EDF has chosen to set up Agregio Solutions, born of the merger between Agregio and Store & Forecast. The role of this new subsidiary is to managethe production of intermittent resources, wind and solar and to compensate for it by flexibility on the demand side», explains Félix Reynaud, president of Agregio Solutions. A story of communicating vessels that must be permanently balanced to preserve the network, with the difficulty of managing a resource that cannot be stored!

Today, Agregio has an installed capacity of around 10 gigawatts, in installed power… virtual. Its job is to manage decentralized energy production centers, i.e. nearly 5,000 connected points, to produce, store or curtail electricity consumption…
