After two consecutive victories, the Pays d’Aix fell at home on Tuesday against the Swedes Ystads (34-36) for the 5th day of the European League. Despite a delicate start to the match where the Swedes took a three-goal lead, the Aixois reacted well and took a comfortable advantage at the end of the first period (18-15).
But thanks to a big second period in the wake of their goalkeepers Niklas Kraft and Erik Hvenfelt (17 saves in total), the Swedes managed to win at the Arena d’Aix en Provence. A success that allows Ystads to pick up in Aix in second position in group B with 6 points.
Montpellier lead Group A
The Montpellier residents won this Tuesday evening at Benfica (24-26). This match was very undecided until five minutes from the end. Tied at half-time (12-12), neither team managed to take control until the 55th. And then, with Montpellier leading by one goal, goalkeeper Charles Bolzinger made his 18th parade of the evening and Kyllian Villeminot punished the Portuguese in the process, allowing MHB to take a two-goal lead.
Two goals that allow Montpellier to remain undefeated in the European League and keep the lead in Pool A with 10 goals.
