Alexey Navalny was sent to a detention center for the 11th time in six months



Russian opposition politician Alexey Navalny, who is serving a sentence in a criminal case in a colony in the Vladimir region, has been sent by the administration to a penal institution for the 11th time in six months.

The penitentiary is distinguished by particularly harsh conditions of detention. According to the description of the oppositionist, in his colony there is a cell measuring 2 by 3 meters, where he has to sit on an iron stool. In January, supporters of the politician installed a copy of the camera at the building of the Russian embassy in Berlin.

The administration of the colony recognized Navalny as a malicious offender. He unsuccessfully tried to appeal the previous decision to send him to the SHIZO in the courts. He is sure that he is being persecuted for political reasons.

  • On January 25, the Moscow City Court considered a politician’s appeal for inclusion in the list of extremists and terrorists maintained by Rosfinmonitoring. It includes people convicted or suspected of crimes under extremist articles. The court rejected the complaint, the state agency “RIA Novosti” reports.
