Argentinian Emiliano Grillo wins the Charles Schwab Challenge (PGA Tour)

And yet the Argentinian almost ruined everything. Solid throughout this fourth round (6 birdies, 2 bogeys) and even installed in the leader’s chair before tackling the last hole of the tournament, the 30-year-old player achieved a double bogey against all odds on 18. This a fault allowed Adam Schenk to regain the lead at -8 overall. However the American was not very inspired this Sunday, as shown by his card of 74 and his three bogeys conceded. But the native of Vincennes also made a birdie, at 16, synonymous with play-off.

If the two men remained in par at 18, Emiliano Grillo found the necessary resources to birdie at 16 and win the victory, the first on the American circuit since October 2015. The third step of the podium is occupied by Harry Hall and Scottie Scheffler. With his score of 67 (2 birdies, 1 eagle, 1 bogey), the winner of the Players Championship 2023 did not go far from participating in the fight for the final victory. However, his error at 16 prevented him from playing for the win until the end. The world number 1 still marked the tournament with a magnificent hole in 1 to 8.

Hovland drops out of the top 10

At -6 total, Paul Haley II took 5th place alone. 6th position (-5) is shared by a trio formed by Michael Kim, Sam Burns and Rickie Fowler. The latter finished his Charles Schwab Challenge on a good note and a nice record of 67 (4 birdies, 1 bogey). The top 10 is completed by another trio. This one is composed by Max Homa, Mark Hubbard and Kevin Streelman.

After his fine comeback in the second round, Viktor Hovland failed to confirm. This Sunday the Norwegian had a very difficult comeback, marked by 3 bogeys and 1 double bogey (for 2 birdies). With this ultimate card of 73, he ranks 16th (-2 total).
