Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams caught 9 suspects smuggling weapons via social media in 3 separate operations in Eyüpsultan. During the operations, 23 pistols of various calibers and brands were seized.

Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams received a tip that some people in Eyüpsultan were trying to sell unlicensed pistols they had obtained illegally via social media.
Evaluating the notice, the teams determined that some of the weapons sold would be shipped as a result of their physical and technical follow-up. The teams took action and carried out an operation at the addresses determined in Eyüpsultan.
The suspects who were transporting weapons by vehicle were caught during the operation carried out on the Northern Marmara Highway. During the operations, 9 suspects named MD, ZD, HAEB, OD, F.İ., AH, MY and US were detained.
During the searches carried out in the suspects’ homes and vehicles, a total of 23 guns, including 17 Blowm brand 7.65 mm, 5 Walther brand 7.65 mm, 1 Vale brand 6.35 mm ination gun, 22 magazines and 77 cartridges were seized.
While the seized weapons were sent to the Istanbul Gendarmerie Criminal Laboratory Directorate for examination, the 9 captured suspects were referred to the judicial authorities after their statements were taken. (DHA)
