Arsenal need to make smart decisions in the upcoming summer transfer window so they can play top roles in the Premier League again next season, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta said on Friday.
The London club have indeed dominated the Premier League for much of this season but have crumbled in the past two months, leaving the title to Manchester City. While Arteta had a first-choice squad, the long injuries of key players – like the French defender William Saliba – revealed the lack of bench depth.
“We will have to ensure everything we do (on the transfer market). Seeking Excellence »Arteta told reporters ahead of Sunday’s home game against Wolverhampton.
“We are looking for players who can have a big impact at the club. The competition will be even tougher next season. This season has been the hardest of my 22 years (careers). To do that, we have a promising plan to think about, take a step back, make sure it’s the right (player)leave with more determination”.
