Arvid De Kleijn wins Milan-Turin

Annual rehearsal of Milan-San Remo (which will take place on Saturday, live commentary on our site), the Italian classic Milan-Turin gave birth to a sprint victory for Dutchman Arvid De Kleijn of the Tudor team, ahead of Fernando Gaviria. The very young (21 years old) Casper Van Uden completes the podium. The Colombian, 2nd, accused De Kleijn of having cut him off in the final. On the images, the Dutchman indeed seems to move to his right to prevent Gaviria from passing. The first Frenchman, Nacer Bouhanni, 2nd last yearfinished 6th.

Before this final in the sprint, there had not been much suspense in this race without major difficulty, the event offering a very flat course. Only a group of five, then four riders (Veljko Stojnic could not keep up with the pace of his breakaway companions), had managed to hold their own against the peloton for a while, but the four riders (Johan Meens, Stefan De Bod, Alessio Nieri and Alessandro Iacchi) were caught 12 kilometers from the finish, after a 180 kilometer breakaway, leaving it to the sprinters to position themselves for the final sprint.
