Assistant doctors in the earthquake area are waiting for ‘unconditional’ transfer right

In line with the decision of the Board of Specialization in Medicine, the assistant physicians trained in the faculties of medicine and dentistry in universities in Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman and Malatya, which were most affected by the 6 February earthquakes that shook Turkey, demanded the right of unconditional transfer and transfer.

Assistant physicians trained in Hatay Mustafa Kemal University, Adıyaman University, Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University and Malatya İnönü University Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in the four provinces where the earthquake caused the most destruction demanded unconditional transfer and transfer rights.
Assistant physicians in four universities pointed out that with the joint call they made, assistant training in the provinces they were in became impossible. In the joint call made with the hashtag #Afetzdeasistnhekimenakil opened on social media, “February 6, 2023, we experienced two major earthquakes in Pazarcık and Ekinözü. Unfortunately, our cities, where we gladly do our duty, have suffered an indescribable destruction.
“WE RUNNED FROM OUR HOMES, WHICH WE HAD HARD TO SAVE OUR LIVES”
The following statements were included in the call of the assistant physicians, who stated that they rushed to duty from their homes, where they had hardly saved their lives with their feet without socks and shoes; “Feeling the aftershocks at any moment, we went to save lives without even hearing from our loved ones. Medicine and dentistry is a practical matter, it is learned by touching the patient, not just read from a book. Here we lost our patients, whom we worked hard to regain their health, and sometimes we see more than our family.
Those we are glad to be alive have left our cities, where we lived a little apocalypse. We have fulfilled our medical duties, but it seems impossible for us to fulfill our assistantship training, which we have earned with a lot of dedication and effort. As assistant doctors trained in the hospitals of Mustafa Kemal University, Adıyaman University, Sütçü İmam University and İnönü University Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, we demand permanent, unconditional transfer and transfer rights in line with the decision to be taken by the Medical Specialization Board.”
