Reduced to 10 from the 4th minute of play, the Canaries snatched a draw against the new Marseille leader this Friday, at the start of the 4th day of Ligue 1.

A good point for Nantes, less good for OM… Still looking for their first victory in 2023-24, the Canaries scored a draw against Marseille (1-1) this Friday, at the start of the fourth day of the French championship. And this when they were reduced to ten from the ninth minute of play, when OM had already opened the scoring through Ismaila Sarr (4th). It was Mostafa Mohamed who equalized at the end of the first period. Marcelino’s players take, at least temporarily, only orders in the Ligue 1 standings with one point more than AS Monaco, which receives Lens on Saturday (9 p.m.). FC Nantes is 15th after this small feat.

Nantes did not give up

Disturbed by Marseille on fire in the first moments of the match, Pierre Aristouy’s players logically found themselves behind from the fourth minute. After a shot from Vitinha repelled by Dscamps, Sarr well placed came to score his second goal in the colors of Marseille. Marcelino’s starved players did not give up and caused the expulsion of young Meupiyou a few minutes later (9th). While they had control of this match, the Olympians relaxed 11 against 10, leaving Nantes to get back into the game thanks to the inevitable Mostafa Mohamed (39th).

Upon returning from the locker room, Marseille regained its ardor to dominate the Canaries. Despite multiple attempts (26 strikes), Vitinha and his teammates could not find the fault to go back in front. Forceps, the Nantes block held on to take an important point at home against one of the leaders of the championship. Second consecutive match without defeat for FC Nantes, again against a big Ligue 1 club.
Truce obliges, in two weeks, the Nantes will go to Clermont to try to obtain their first victory of the season. Marseille will host Toulouse at the Vélodrome.
