ATP tournament in Rome – Zieliński and Nys won in doubles


Jan Zieliński and Monaco’s Hugo Nys defeated the Dutch Robin Haase and Botic van de Zandschulp 7:5, 6:1 in the final of the ATP Masters 1000 tennis doubles tournament on clay courts in Rome. This is the third title of a Pole, and the second in tandem with this partner.

Earlier, Zieliński triumphed twice in the hall in Metz – in 2021 with Hubert Hurkacz, and in 2022 with Nys. The 26-year-old tennis player from Warsaw and the player from Monaco are the finalists of this year’s edition of the Australian Open Grand Slam.

Sunday’s match lasted only 66 minutes. Zieliński and Nys served very well, not giving the Dutch a single chance to break. In the first set, they could break the opponent’s serve in the eighth game, but they missed three balls. They achieved their goal in the twelfth game, using the second opportunity and won the game. The second set lasted 27 minutes and was one-sided.
