BBC boss rules out quitting after Gary Lineker suspension


BBC chief executive Tim Davie said on Saturday he would not step down despite the storm unleashed by the star presenter’s suspension from Game of the Day, Gary Lineker, sanctioned the day before for a tweet criticizing the government. A suspension which caused disruptions in the sports program schedule of the British audiovisual group this weekend.
“Everyone wants to resolve the situation calmly”, said Mr. Davie in an interview with the BBC, after MOTD, a real institution across the Channel where the program has been broadcast since 1964, was broadcast for the first time on Saturday without a presenter, consultant or even commentary, in the part of a shortened 20-minute program of highlights from six Premier League matches.
