Hard blow to come for Booba? The rapper, who is due to perform on June 21 in Casablanca, Morocco, could see his concert definitively canceled. Local authorities refused to authorize the show, amid calls for a boycott who accuse the French rapper of .
The prefecture of Casablanca-Anfa “notified a refusal to organize the concert but without giving any justifications”, a manager of the organization of the concert told AFP on condition of anonymity. “We are still negotiating with them (the local authorities),” he added.
“Degrading remarks towards Moroccan and North African women”
Very popular in Morocco, Booba is implicated on social networks for having made “degrading remarks towards Moroccan and North African women” in some of his songs. A sit-in against his arrival was scheduled for Friday in front of the Casablanca prefecture but it did not materialize, given the decision taken by the latter.
In a video posted Monday on Twitter, the rapper said “waiting for news from the concert in Morocco”. “Normally it is maintained. If it were canceled, it would be really regrettable, ”said Booba, accusing French rapper of Moroccan origin Maes and Maître Gims, who resides in Morocco, of being behind the boycott campaign. Maes, a former Booba protege, had urged his Twitter followers to sign a petition to cancel the show in Casablanca which has so far collected nearly 4,500 signatures.
The Club of Lawyers in Morocco, a professional ociation, has filed a complaint against Booba “for defamation and insults against Moroccan women”, confirmed to AFP its president Mourad ElAddi, without further details.
Among the songs criticized by the rapper: “ELEPHANT”, title where the star raps “little Moroccan s Berlusconi”, in reference to a Moroccan nicknamed Ruby who had participated in the “bunga bunga” evenings of the former Italian “Cavaliere” then that she was a minor. But also “Génération in”, when Booba sings: “I go to Chiche only for beurettes”.
