Cannes Film Festival: Anna Biolay takes her first steps under the eyes of her father Benjamin

Is an extremely hairy woman a woman? If the question may seem ridiculous in 2023, it was not in rural France at the beginning of the 20th century, as told by Stéphanie Di Giusto’s latest film, “Rosalie”, inspired by a true story. Anna Biolay is part of the cast of this film alongside of his own father Benjamin Biolay.

Logically, she therefore made her debut Thursday on the Croisette to present, alongside the other stars of the feature film Nadia Tereszkiewicz – who plays the title role – and Benoît Magimel. Anna, daughter of Chiara Mastroianni and granddaughter of Catherine Deneuve, has something to look out for when it comes to successfully climbing the stairs.

“She has a real ease”

“I immediately looked at her like the other actresses. I don’t know if it’s in her genes, and I’m not talking about mine, but she has a real ease when it comes to acting. It’s quite impressive to observe,” commented a Benjamin Biolay who was particularly proud of her, in an interview given to Télé Star. The casting of his daughter was also done behind his back, we learn in the same interview.

During the traditional photocall which preceded their arrival on the red carpet, the father and the daughter showed an exemplary complicity.

The Biolays multiplied their smiles and other gestures of tenderness under the flashes of the Cannes press, always on the lookout for these emotional moments.
