Carlos Alcaraz, after his victory against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarters: “One of the best matches of my career”

6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (5), v Stefanos Tsitsipas and a first qualification for the last four at Roland-Garros: we imagine that you had a good evening, right?
My level goes up every time I win. I played really, really well. I would even say that it was one of the best matches of my career. I feel confident, physically, mentally, tennis; I felt very comfortable on the pitch. I lost concentration for a moment, but I was able to regain it in the end.

When you fly at such altitudes, is everything as easy for you as it seems?
Today, everything I produced was easy. I try to make things simple. I was comfortable on every shot, I felt great. Each time, I had the feeling that my shot was going to land.

If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best

How do you imagine this semi-final on Friday against Novak Djokovic?
It’s true that, since the draw, everyone was waiting a bit for this match. Me too by the way. Since last year (Alcaraz victory at Madrid 2022for their only duel to date), I want to play against Novak again. We both play at a high level, and like I said before, if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. So I can’t wait to be there. Against Djokovic, I will have to hold the line, and the concentration until the end. What happened to me today should help me prevent this from happening again.

What will count more, his experience or your youth?
I want to think that this will be my youth (smile). It will be his 45th Grand Slam half and only my second. Honestly, I won’t stop thinking about this game! I would like to play it tomorrow! We will feast. »
