The 10th player in the world beat American Sloane Stephens in three sets last night.
Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, world No.10, qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 in San Diego thanks to her 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 victory on Wednesday against American Sloane Stephens. In the next round, she will meet a compatriot of her opponent of the day, the 43rd in the world Danielle Collins who lost to the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (16th), 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Against Stephens (36th), Garcia relied on her serve with eight aces, ping almost all of her first balls while remaining very effective on her second shots.
