Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), third in qualifying for the Bahrain GP: “We have a good chance”

Charles Leclerc (Ferrari, 3rd qualifications), at the Canal+ microphone: “I think today we had the performance to fight for pole. The first lap I do in Q3 I’m not super happy, there were some mistakes, I knew where to improve, but looking at how Red Bull performed on the race simulations in free practice 2, I preferred to lose maybe be one or two positions at the start and have new soft tyres. So we made this decision, I’m sure it’s the right one, we’ll see if it allows us to fight with the Red Bulls in the race. I prefer to look ahead but it’s true that the Aston Martin looks very fast. We’ll see, we’ll try to do the best possible race, I think with the new soft tires at the start we have a good chance. »

Sergio Perez (Red Bull, 2nd): “It was very tight qualifying. I don’t remember ever having experienced such a hard-fought battle. We couldn’t leave anything out. I was not entirely comfortable with the balance of the car, I still think you can win a tenth on a lap, but to get the first two places for the team is very special . We are more prepared for the race. We knew we’d have to compromise, and I hope it pays off tomorrow (Sunday). »
