Charles Leclerc will receive ten penalty places in Jeddah

The 2023 season is not starting in the best way for Charles Leclerc. Victim of an engine failure during of the opening Grand Prix in Bahrain, the Monegasque will have to change his electronic box for the next race, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday (6 p.m.). Since it will be his third (only two are allowed in a season), he will receive a ten-place grid penalty.

On Sunday morning, before the race at Sakhir, the Italian team had changed a part after noticing a problem. But during the race, a new anomaly had been detected, causing Charles Leclerc to retire on the 41st lap (out of 57) and forcing Ferrari to change the electronics box again.

Once again this year, reliability is a real challenge for Ferrari. Last season, Charles Leclerc had to start twice from the back of the grid (Canada and Belgium) and received a 10-place penalty in the United States, due to changes in engine parts on his single-seater.
