The palace said the sacred oil was made from two trees cut from the Mount of Olives at the Mary Magdalene Monastery and the Monastery of the Ascension in Western Asia. The oil was consecrated by the Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos-III, and the Anglican Archbishop of Jerusalem, the Most Reverend Hosam Naum, at a ceremony held in Jerusalem on Friday. The ‘Church of the Holy Sepulchre’ is considered one of the holiest Christian sites in the world.
