Inter Milan won the Coppa Italia by beating Fiorentina 2-1 in the final in Rome. The club from Lombardy defended the trophy, which it won for the ninth time in history.
Both teams put on a great show. Fiorentina took the lead in the 3rd minute after the shot of the Argentinian Nicolas Gonzalez. The hero of the match, however, was his compatriot who plays for Inter – Lautaro Martinez, who determined the result of the match before the break. First, in the 29th minute, he took advantage of a one-on-one situation with the Fiorentina goalkeeper after a great p from Marcelo Brozovic, and eight minutes later he showed off a spectacular volley after a cross by Nicolo Barelli. Martinez scored his 100th and 101st goals for Inter on Wednesday.
The pace of the game continued to be high in the second half, but no more goals were scored. At the end of two excellent chances to equalize Serbian Luka Jovic.
Both teams are doing well in European cup competitions this season. Inter will play in the Champions League final, and Fiorentina, which eliminated Lech Poznań in the quarter-finals, will play in the Conference League final.
