Nice week on the Polish clay of Szczecin for Corentin Moutet. At 23, the Parisian left-hander won the title on Sunday in this Challenger 125 category tournament (just below the ATP 250), dominating the Austrian Dennis Novak, 136th in the world (6-2, 6-7, 6- 4 in 2h26).
After leading 6-2, 2-0, Moutet did not succeed in driving the point straight away but he reacted perfectly after the loss of the tie-break (5-7), realizing the double break from the start of last round. Novak recovered at 3-3 then Moutet took his distance to conclude. He thus won his sixth Challenger title, the second in 2022, after that of Lyon, in June.
The best ranking of his career
Winner of 22 of his last 28 matches, Corentin Moutet will obtain the best ranking of his career on Monday, in 64th place. He will now go directly to another Challenger tournament, still on earth, but in Italy this time, in Genoa, where fate has given him an interesting start, against a local wild card, Gianmarco Ferrari (413th ATP).
