For his suitcase rental idea, Julien Ehret rethought the manufacturing of a timeless model.

Rent a travel suitcase like you rent a car, a chainsaw or a high pressure cleaner. Considering their very occasional function and the bulk they represent when they are asleep in cupboards, the idea was not stupid. “However, she didn’t hang on at all, deplores Julien Ehret, at the origin of this service which he tried to offer in 2019. For cultural and hygiene reasons, travelers prefer to have their own suitcase.”

Julien Ehret had imagined this project within the family business, the Société alsacienne de maroquinerie (Samar), created in Molsheim (Bas-Rhin) in 1960 by his great-uncle. The company notably markets luggage under the Jump brand. For his suitcase rental idea, Julien Ehret rethought the manufacturing of a timeless model designed by his father in 2007: the Dot-Drops. The polypropylene and nylon body of this now iconic suitcase is crisscrossed with small round dots reminiscent of these coverings…
