Erzincan Governor Mehmet Makas noted that they are working to reveal structures that may pose a risk with an expert commission formed before a possible earthquake throughout the city.

Governor Makas, in the message he published on the anniversary of the earthquake that took place in the city on March 13, 1992, stated that they did not forget the citizens who lost their lives and that it was one of the greatest pains of the people of Erzincan.
Pointing out that they did not forget the losses, Makas said, “We feel the sadness and pain in our hearts on the anniversary of this earthquake, in which hundreds of our fellow citizens lost their lives. On this occasion, I wish God’s mercy on those who lost their lives in the earthquakes that took place in our city and our country. he said.
“ONCE AGAIN, WE ENCOUNTERED THE REALITY OF EARTHQUAKE”
Makas said that they once again faced the reality of earthquakes with Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes affecting 11 provinces, and said:
“Unfortunately, we faced the reality of earthquake once again, with the earthquake disaster affecting 11 provinces. According to the earthquake zone map, most of our country’s territory is located on the 1st and 2nd degree earthquake zones. Therefore, we have to know how vital it is to be prepared for earthquakes and to build earthquake-resistant buildings. Earthquakes don’t kill, buildings do. We should never forget this fact.”

Explaining that they are working against a possible earthquake in the city, Makas said:
*We continue our work in our city without ignoring the possibility that an earthquake may occur at any time.
*The ‘Erzincan Building Stock Evaluation Commission’ was established in order to review the status of the buildings within the borders of our province and to reveal the structures that may pose a risk.
* Our commission, which consists of experts in this field, continues its work. It is our primary duty to leave an earthquake-resistant construction and to ensure that the buildings to be built with the public and private sectors are built in accordance with the standards stipulated by the laws, by-laws and regulations, from the foundation to the roof.
