Eintracht Frankfurt goes to the quarters, with a double from Randal Kolo Muani

The French international scored two goals for his club on Tuesday night against Darmstadt.
I’Eintracht Frankfurt qualified for the quarter-finals of the German Cup by beating at home the team of Darmstadt (D2) 4 to 2 with a brace from their French international striker Randal Kolo Muani.
Kolo Muani quickly opened the scoring for Eintracht in the sixth minute. But Darmstadt, leader of the German second division, went ahead in the score shortly after half an hour of play thanks to a double from Austrian winger Mathias Honsak (29th, 31st), very little used by his club since the start of the season. Oliver Glasner’s men, however, managed to equalize just before the break after a goal signed by Rafael Santos Borré Maury (44th), then regained the advantage through Daichi Kamada (3-2, 62nd), before that Kolo Muani drives the point home in the 90th minute.
Eintracht, still qualified for the German Cup, fifth in an extremely tight German Championship five points behind Bayern Munich after 19 days, and which will face Naples in the knockout stages of the Champions League, can still dream of triple. At the start of the evening, another team from the German elite, Freiburg, had also joined the quarters by going to beat Sandhausen, bottom team in the 2nd division (15th), 2 to 0.
But success took a very long time to emerge for Fribourg, Cup finalist last season and current sixth in the league. It was the Austrian Philipp Lienhart who unblocked the situation for Freiburg in the 87th minute when we seemed to be heading straight for extra time. Nils Petersen, who came on with less than ten minutes remaining in regulation time, added a second goal after five minutes of added time.
