Chairman of the Turkish Workers’ Party, Erkan Baş, criticized the government with harsh words regarding the crisis between the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court. “The issue has gone far beyond the Can Atalay issue,” said Erkan Baş, adding, “We will see whether it is the palace or the big people? There is no one here who will surrender to Tayyip Erdoğan!” he said.

Chairman of the Turkish Workers’ Party, Erkan Baş, spoke about the agenda at the meeting held in Defne after his party’s Hatay provincial congress.
Erkan Baş, who first touched upon the nomination of Can Atalay at the meeting, said, “We did the right thing by nominating Can. We showed that we have not forgotten the murderers of Hatay’s children. If we had not elected a representative, they would have said that Gezi was a coup uprising and that is why those who died died. No, Gezi was a public rebellion of a people saying, “My fate cannot be between your two lips, we will decide together what will happen to the future of the country.” We managed to show that the values of Gezi, our values, are still alive and that we protect them until the end. “This is why their chemistry has deteriorated,” he said.
“THE ISSUE HAS GONE MUCH BEYOND THE CAN ATALAY ISSUE”
Regarding Can Atalay’s application, the crisis between the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of Appeals, and the subsequent discussions on the Constitutional amendment, Erkan Baş said the following:
*The issue has gone far beyond the Can Atalay issue. Tayyip Erdoğan asks you ‘who are you?’ He says, ‘I decided to keep these people in prison after Gezi, I imprisoned these people, you are rebelling against me without looking at your ruined state, your ruined city.’
*And you say, ‘No, we continue to stand behind Gezi, Ali, Abdo and Ahmet.’ He wants to settle accounts with us. We will see, is it the palace or the great people? There is no one here who will surrender to Tayyip Erdoğan.
*Our rightness has been proven so clearly… They are so illegitimate and helpless that they are violating the Constitution they made. The Constitution states that ‘The decisions taken by the Constitutional Court are final. “Decisions cover legal and real persons”.
*When the September 12 Constitution was not enough for them, they changed the Constitution that is in force in Turkey today. If what is written today is binding on us, it is also binding on Tayyip Erdoğan. What we did was so right that they could no longer hold our representative captive without violating their own laws. They were disgraced.
*Now they impose this: ‘We have the power, we implement the law we want, we do not implement what we do not want. ‘Get used to it.’ Since we are not used to this, we will continue to fight until the end. We will bring everyone who is in prison to the fields of struggle just because they did not surrender to Tayyip Erdoğan. Whatever it takes, fight until the end…
*The government is constantly trying to interfere with the opposition. The government is trying to design the opposition. He wants an opposition on the right. The AKP’s opposition wants it to look like the AKP again. By doing this, he wants to achieve victory in local elections.
*If you want to change something in the elections, do not wait until the elections. We need to turn local elections into an opportunity to experience the showdown of the century. We gave a message to Turkey in the last election. What suits us now is to show that we are a city that holds people to account.
“SOMEONE IS LOOKING HERE, ‘HOW CAN I MAKE MORE MONEY?'”
Finally, giving messages about the local elections, Baş said, “When you look at the ruins of the city, you experience painful feelings. Some people are looking here asking ‘how can I make more money?’ The coming reckoning is the reckoning of this. Some people around here will nominate you to enrich themselves and their supporters. Do not hand over Hatay to them. Take Hatay’s fate into your own hands. We, as the Turkish Workers’ Party, trust the people of Hatay. We are ready for any task given by the people of Hatay. “We will succeed together,” he said.
