Esport – Rocket League: a title for Zen and Vitality

Perfect Sunday for Vitality: after qualifying for the Paris Major quarter-finals of his training counter strikehis team Rocket League won their first major title since 2021 on the game. In the inaugural continental tournament of the spring segment of the RLCS (the elite competitive circuit), the French club beat Team Liquid in the final (4-3) and perfectly launched his adventure with his latest recruit, unanimously considered a prodigy : Alexis “Zen” Bernier (16 years old).

And Vitality didn’t have the most obvious path. Quadrant, G1, Karmine Corp and, therefore, Team Liquid twice (in the final of the winner bracket of a double elimination table, then in the grand final): only difficult opponents to maneuver. But this weekend ended in the most beautiful way for the Parisian structure.

Zen has risen to power

For its first outing at this level of competition, zen has slowly moved upmarket. Probably a bit caught up in the pressure and stress at the idea of finally launching his professional career with the weight of expectations around his young person, he started piano on Friday. Paradoxically, it was probably in the final that he completely let go, exposing his talent in the air in particular.

The tactical reorganization and the fear that his talent arouses will inevitably have had an impact throughout this “Regional”. On the opponents of Zen of course, but also, by extension, probably a little his teammates Andrea “Radosin” Radovanovic and Yanis “Alpha54” Champenois, both relaxed and excellent.

Vitality is therefore starting the last long stretch towards the World Championships very well. Rocket League (in Düsseldorf, in August) composed of three online tournaments and an intercontinental Major in Boston (United States): the places to accompany the Karmine Corp, already guaranteed to represent the continent at the Worldsin Germany will be played there.

The Karmine was released by a ghost: Team BDS and its duo, now (the Swiss club replaced the Frenchman with the Englishman Finlay “rise” Ferguson between the winter and spring segments), from Tricolores. The reigning world championsin difficulty this season, started the machine again with a third place this weekend.

Although it is too early to say that the cards have been redistributed in Europe, this first spring tournament has laid the foundations for a great story between the different teams of the top. The next one (from May 26 to 28), already promises a lot.
