Estado Maior da Restinga is the great champion of Carnival 2023 in Porto Alegre
“The great champion of Carnival is the community. The Restinga community deserves the title. We strive for perfection. Now it’s time to go home and celebrate”, celebrated the school’s president, Aldo Luis Rabelo Carlos.
During the counting of the scores, the crowned in the Porto Alegre Carnival competed for first place with the Unidos de Vila Isabel school, from Viamão, runner-up also with 160 points. However, as it lost a few tenths on a note discarded in one of the questions, the tiebreaker criterion made the General Staff of Restinga win.
Unidos da Vila Isabel won second place in the Gold series after 21 years and obtained a surprising result, since the school returned to the special series last year, when it was the champion of the Silver series.
Imperatriz Dona Leopoldina, from the Rubem Berta neighborhood, in the Capital, took third place in the Gold group with 159.9 points.
The school downgraded this year to the Silver category was Império do Sol, from São Leopoldo, with 159.4 points. Fidalgos and Aristocratas had the same score in the calculations, but as Império do Sol lost a tenth in one of the drum scores and as it extrapolated the parade time, it suffered the highest penalty.
The announcement was made this Monday afternoon (6), after 3 hours of investigation. The parades took place on Friday (3rd) and Saturday (4th), at the Porto Seco Cultural Complex, with 20 associations in both series. This year there will be no Parade of Champions.
After 9 years, Copacabana returns to the group Ouro do Carnaval in Porto Alegre
The Copacabana samba school, from the Bom Jesus neighborhood, is the champion of the group Prata do Carnaval 2023 in Porto Alegre. With 159.9 points in the sum of the requirements, Copacabana returns to the special Gold group after 9 years in the Silver series.
“Three years knocking on the door. We were sure that we would go up with this year’s results”, said the interpreter from Copacabana, Lucas Donato, with emotion, at the end of the calculation.
The runner-up in the category, with 159.8 accumulated points, was Academia de Samba Praiana, in the Praia de Belas neighborhood, and third place went to the Unidos da Vila Mapa school, in Lomba do Pinheiro, which scored 159.3 in the sum of the requirements.
This year, Academicos da Orgia, from the Rio Branco neighborhood, and Mocidade da Lomba do Pinheiro, from Lomba do Pinheiro, fell. The schools stayed two years away from the Silver category parades and will parade only as invited schools.
