Europa League (group E): Manchester United is reassured, Real Sociedad provides

Sensation of the Champions League group stage last season, where he beat Real Madrid, Sheriff Tiraspol is playing the Europa League this year with less success against big clubs.

The Moldovans received Manchester United on Thursday evening and Erik Ten Hag's men easily won. After the opening of the quick score of Jadon Sancho (17th), well served by Christian Eriksen, Cristiano Ronaldo made the break from the penalty spot (39th). It is the first goal of the season for the five-time Portuguese Ballon d'Or and his very first goal in C3, too, after a whole career in C1. Frenchman Raphaël Varane was aligned at the hinge. The Blues defender delivered a decent performance.

Real Sociedad alone in the lead

In the other Group E game, Real Sociedad confirmed their victory last week at Old Trafford (1-0) by dismissing Omonia Nicosia (2-1). Ander Guevara unlocked the match with a long shot (30th), Bruno equalized for the Cypriots (72nd) but Alexander Sorloth very quickly allowed the Basques to regain the advantage (80th). The former Angevin Mohamed-Ali Cho, French international Espoirs, started and played for an hour.
