Australia all-rounder Cameron Green was finally able to convert a half-century into a century for the seventh time and after the burden was off, he is now feeling like a Test cricketer. Green, playing his 20th Test, scored 114 in the first innings of the fourth and final Test against India. This is his first century in Test cricket. Usman Khawaja played an inning of 180 runs, which helped Australia to post a strong score of 480 runs in the first innings.
Green told reporters after the match, “When that kind of burden is off your back, then you feel like a Test cricketer.” So it was great to score a hundred here. It is special to me.” The Indian bowlers, especially Umesh Yadav, bowled some loose balls to Green, taking advantage of which the all-rounder was able to score quick runs. Green said, “I think a little luck also supported me, so that I reached 70 to 80 and then 90 runs very quickly. It helped me a bit and I didn’t get much time to think about the hundred. ‘Green’s previous highest score was 84 and so his innings is certainly special.
He said, “It is a really special innings. Certainly getting close to a hundred at lunch (95 runs) felt like 40 minutes, like an hour and 40 minutes. But I was batting with Ujji (Khwaja’s nickname) and I had an experienced player with me at the other end the whole time. He batted brilliantly and that helped me a lot.
