Felix Sanchez named Ecuador coach
Spaniard Felix Sanchez is the new coach of Ecuador, the Ecuadorian Federation announced in a communicated. The 47-year-old technician succeeds Argentinian Gustavo Alfaro and will be responsible for leading the Tri’s qualification campaign for the 2026 World Cup co-organized by the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Sanchez had spent the past five years on the Qatar bench. If he won the Asian Cup of Nations in 2019 with the Qatar team, he remains on a bitter failure at the last World Cup, where the host country finished dead last in its group, by chaining three defeats, especially in the opening match against at… the Equator (0-2).
Sanchez will begin his tenure with an Australian tour, with a double friendly confrontation against the Socceroos, on March 24 and 28, in Sydney then Melbourne.
