Former England international David Johnson dies aged 71

Former England striker David ‘Doc’ Johnson, who played for Everton and Liverpool and was the first to score for both clubs in the Merseyside derby, died on Wednesday aged 71 from complications throat cancer.

Johnson had scored six goals in eight appearances for England, including two against an Argentine side with a young Diego Maradona at Wembley in 1980. With Liverpool he won three Premiership titles and the European Cup in 1981 .
