Fruhvirtova and Linette have an appointment in the final in Chennai

The Czech Linda Fruhvirtova will face for her first final on the circuit the Polish Magda Linette, 67th in the world, to try to win her first title at only 17 years old. Fruhvirtova (130th in the world) overcame Argentina's Nadia Podoroska in three sets 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 in the semi-final. The youngest player to enter the top 400 in 2021, the Czech, former winner of the Petits As tournament, had already reached the round of 16 at the WTA 1000 in Miami last March.

Linette, 30, benefited from the abandonment after only 3 games of the Briton Katie Swan (174th), undoubtedly tested after her quarter-final against the qualified Nao Hibino, finished in the night at almost 3 hours in the morning and during which she had already had to request a medical time-out due to the heat. Linette had also finished her shift late, past midnight, against the Canadian Rebecca Marino. The Pole will aim for her third WTA title on Sunday, the first since February 2020 in Hua Hin.
