Gabin Villière (Toulon) back in training

Good news for the RCT. Gabin Villière, French international winger (12 caps, 6 tries), winner of the 2022 Grand Slam, resumed training this Tuesday morning with his club, Toulon.

The end of a long crossing of the desert for the player who has multiplied injuries in recent months. First of all ankle injury against Lyon in the Challenge Cup final last May, he made his comeback to competition six months later, against Stade Français on 26 November. But he had relapsed during this meeting, fracturing his fibula on the side of this same ankle, and also injuring his left hand. Two new injuries which had once again kept him away from the field for several weeks.

Logically far from the XV of France, which starts next week its Six Nations Tournament in Italy (Sunday February 5, 4 p.m.), the former septist could recover his place with Toulon this weekend against Pau (Saturday, 5 p.m.). Enough to recover it also in the France team, where the danty package and the probable repositioning of Moefana in the center leave a “vacant” place for the wing? Have.

Not selected by Fabien Galthié to prepare for the Tournament, it is however not impossible (at least according to the rules) to see Gabin Villière evolve during the competition. Last November, Toulouse left prop Cyril Baille was also not included in Galthié’s first list for the Autumn tour. Baille had nevertheless played a few minutes with his club, before being called up the following week to face Australia at the Stade de France. He had even resumed his place as holder.
