Gaziantep and Kilis delivery to rain and hail
The rain, which started at night and gradually increased in the earthquake region, especially in Gaziantep and Kilis, left its place to hail. While the city suddenly turned white due to the rains in Gaziantep, this flooded many homes and workplaces.
The rain that started in the evening hours in Gaziantep, where Meteorology warned of heavy rain and snowfall in high areas, turned into heavy rain and then hail at around 23.20.
Walnut-sized hail fell on Gaziantep and its neighboring city, Kilis, with heavy thunder and lightning. While roads in many main arteries and neighborhoods turned into the lake, citizens tried to cover their vehicles with blankets to prevent damage from the hail. It was stated that the thunder in Kilis was a meteorological movement called ‘super cell’.
Authorities warned citizens not to pass through underpasses and closed some streets with underpasses to traffic. The heavy rain lasted for about half an hour. While many vehicles were under water, many homes and businesses were also flooded. Municipality teams made great efforts to prevent the closing of the manholes and to ensure that the closed gratings were opened.
