CRITICAL – 22 years after the beginning of the adventure of the English virtual group, Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett continue to write the soundtrack of the time. The proof with “Cracker Island”, their 8th album.

Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn are tired of answering the same questions. “Ask us for different things”, they demand that we pass the door of the Parisian suite in which they receive us. The two demiurges behind the virtual group Gorillaz – one of the biggest pop hits of the last twenty years – present Cracker Islandeighth album since their debut in 2001.

While most bands show a lack of inspiration after a decade of activity, these two fifties release a record that is as stimulating as it is vigorous, accessible and dense at the same time. “Every time we get together to reactivate Gorillaz, we are really happy to do so, and we have lots of ideas. If we felt like we weren’t doing anything good, we wouldn’t do it!”, says Jamie Hewlett. Graphic designer and illustrator, the fifties is the inventor of the virtual musicians of the group founded with his longtime friend Damon Albarn.
