Grêmio and Ypiranga draw in Erechim before meeting again in the semifinals

Grêmio finished the first phase of the Campeonato Gaúcho with a goalless draw against Ypiranga this Saturday afternoon. The two teams were already classified, went to the field with the reserves and will meet again in the semifinals. The game, valid for the 11th and final round, was held at the Colosso da Lagoa stadium, in Erechim (RS).

With the result, Grêmio continues as the only undefeated and ended up in the lead with 29 points. Ypiranga, on the other hand, reached 18 points and lost one position, taking fourth place. The other semifinal will be composed of Internacional, runner-up with 22 points, and Caxias, third with 20. The knockout will be held in two games and, in case of a tie on the aggregate score, the decision will go to penalties.

Despite the teams entering with the reserve teams, the match was well disputed, but without many chances. In the first half, Ypiranga almost opened the scoring with Leandro Córdova, who took advantage of the error and went in front of Brenno. The goalkeeper, however, saved Grêmio and would, soon after, make another defense with a shot by MV.

In the second half, Grêmio used Zinho’s individual move to scare. He passed by two markers and shot from distance, requiring a two-stroke defense by goalkeeper Allan. Ypiranga responded with Ronald, but Brenno parried to a corner.

In the final minutes, right-back João Pedro got the second yellow card and was expelled, leaving Grêmio with one less. Despite some pressure from Ypiranga, Grêmio managed to hold on to secure the tie and maintain their unbeaten record.
