The new Italian coach of Les Gones spoke at a press conference this Thursday, two days before the trip to Brest for the 6th day of Ligue 1.
Fabio Grosso begins his rescue mission. Inducted as new OL coach during the international break, the former Italian defender led his first week of training before his debut on the Lyon bench, scheduled for this Saturday evening (9 p.m.) on the pitch at Stade Brestois.
“It’s a time when we have difficulties because we haven’t had good results. We tried to separate what happened before. We are trying to get off to a good start, there is a good state of mind even in this complicated period, he confided this Thursday at a press conference, while Lyon occupies 16th place in Ligue 1 with only 2 points taken in 5 days. It’s a time when you have to work hard and we did it very well this week. I found a serious group that gives me confidence for the future. We are going to face Brest, a team in great shape (2nd with 10 points), it will be difficult but we have the qualities to put in a big match there, we are convinced of it.»

“I know where I want to get»
Impatient to do battle, Grosso praised the state of mind of his players, emphasizing the importance of the collective in this period of sporting crisis. “The most important thing is the team. Afterwards, in the team, there are players who are more physical or technical. Tactically, everyone has their qualities. It’s very important for me to build on this quality and improve it. Everyone can improve.» he said positively.
Ambitious but aware of the work to be done to get back on track, the 2006 world champion has also displayed his ambitions, always with serenity and confidence: “I know where I want to get to. We’re starting from a difficult moment but we’ll get there by going through positive and negative things. You have to believe in what you do. All of these things build on the team’s shared values. If we want to be a team, there must be values and then we will put tactical and technical things in place. It’s not a good thing to start backwards.”
