Hauts-de-Seine: Emmanuel Pellerin, MP for the majority, admits having used cocaine after his election

“I am not an elected representative of the Republic who takes drugs”, he first defended himself. Before admitting to taking cocaine after his election. Confronted with an in-depth investigation by Mediapartthe Deputy for Hauts-de-Seine, Emmanuel Pellerin, from the majority, admitted to having used drugs, and in particular cocaine, before and after his election to the Palais-Bourbon, last spring, according to the online media. An offense punishable by one year’s imprisonment and a fine of 3,750 euros that the lawyer could not ignore.

“I took drugs again the weekend when we celebrated my investiture in July and after that it was over”, admitted Emmanuel Pellerin to Mediapart, evoking the “biggest bullshit of his life”, after having repeatedly insisted on the absence of any consumption from the legislative elections. “People who tell you that I took drugs after the campaign, it’s wrong,” he said and repeated to Mediapart. Consumption of cannabis and cocaine is mentioned by Mediapart.

An investigation opened and then closed

An investigation against Emmanuel Pellerin was opened on September 9 after, in particular, the declaration of his own son. He had told his psychologist that his father had presented him with a box containing narcotics at the end of July. This psychologist then transmitted “worrying information”, as part of the alert system for a minor in danger. The investigation had been dismissed on September 26, the prosecutor considering that “the constituent elements of a criminal offense did not appear to have been established”.

How will the majority react to these revelations? Emmanuel Macron has made the fight against drugs one of its priorities. A goal shared by his Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin. “The primary responsibility is the consumer. If there were no consumers, there would be no trafficking,” he accused last June. “Let’s stop accepting the worldly consumption of drugs”, he had also supported in an interview with the Parisian.

Emmanuel Pellerin had been imposed in the Hauts-de-Seine by the former deputy Thierry Solère, entangled in several casescurrently adviser to Emmanuel Macron.
