The statement of Murat Atılgan (38) who shot and killed Tuba Atılgan (33) with a gun at the bus stop in Batman, his wife who is in the process of divorce and mother of 2 children, has emerged. In his statement, Atılgan said that the custody of his daughter was with his wife and that he had committed the murder when he filed a lawsuit to get custody of his son.
The incident occurred in the morning hours of 8 March in Çamlıtepe District. His wife, Murat Atılgan, who was in the process of divorce, shot Tuba Atılgan, a mother of 2 children and a daughter, who was waiting at the bus stop. Tuba Atılgan, a women’s hairdresser, lost her life with bullets hitting her body. Meanwhile, a high school student waiting at the bus stop was injured by a ricochet. The high school girl was taken to the hospital and treated.
Murat Atılgan, who set fire to his house in Belde Mahallesi, where he went after the incident, was detained by police teams. Murat Atılgan was arrested by the court he was brought to the courthouse to which he was transferred after his procedures at the police station. Tuba Atılgan’s body was received by her family after autopsy and buried in Kavakdibi village of Kozluk district.

In Murat Atılgan’s statement, he said that the custody of his daughter was with his wife and that he was angry when he filed a lawsuit to take custody of his son. Atılgan claimed that his wife Tuba constantly threatened him with not showing the children, and he constantly demanded property while he was getting divorced. She used children as a threat. He wanted to take custody of my son, who remained with me even though I gave him the property he wanted. When I sued for this, I got angry and committed the murder. He said he wouldn’t show me the kids.
I said don’t take custody of my son even if you get custody of my daughter. I was looking at the stops there because I was guessing the commute time. When I saw it, I approached and fired. He said, “I got angry with the property issue and burned the house, saying that it should not be yours or mine.” (DHA)
