Hege Riise has left her post as manager of the Norwegian women’s football team.
Laugh leaves his post because of numerous differences with his federation, born of the poor results at the World Cup where the Norwegians, among the favorites, were eliminated in eighth by the Japanese (3-1). Appointed in August 2022 after a short spell as head of the women’s team Englishhis choices were no longer unanimous.
Following a detailed essment and discussions with the applicant, “we see that we have different views on the role of coach in this team regarding the work ahead“, said the president of the federation, Lise Klaveness, quoted in a press release.
Former Olympic (2000), world (1995) and European (1993) champion, Hege Riise, 54, will bounce back from January 1, 2024. The Norwegian will be responsible for strengthening women’s football within the federation.
