“There is nothing bloodier than a war between dragons. » A sentence that sets the tone for season 2 of “House of the Dragon.” This Saturday, December 2, the American platform HBO Max revealed a first preview of future episodes of this series whose action precedes that of “Game of Thrones”. With one important clarification: they will be broadcast in the summer of 2024, more than 18 months after the end of the first season in the fall of 2022.
The series centers on the Targaryen clan, which has been plagued by internal rivalries for several decades. In the trailer, we understand that the war will be led, on one side, by Alicent Hightower, widow of King Viserys, and, on the other, by the monarch’s daughter, Rhaenyra Targaryen.
“Many will die”
The two women, once best friends, will not do each other any favors. Because, at the end of season 1, the son of the first had killed that of the second by losing control of his dragon.
During the 70 seconds of the video, images of violent clashes follow one another in an epic and spectacular sequence. Dragons, soldiers, close combat, executions, fires… Chaos will take over the Seven Kingdoms to determine who will ultimately take the Iron Throne. “Many will die,” we can also hear.
It remains to be seen where this new season will be broadcast in France. Currently, the fiction is available on OCS (only until December 31) as well as on the Warner P, a paid option in addition to the Prime Video subscription.
Gold the American parent company, HBO Max — renamed Max during its international deployment and in particular in France — must also arrive here in the summer of 2024. An imprecise deadline which leaves us in the dark. But this season 2 of “House of the Dragon” could be a great headliner and a launching pad of choice for the inauguration of the French version of Max.
