Hungarian Foreign Ministry announced preparations for Orban’s visit to Kyiv

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban may visit Kyiv, the republic is preparing his visit, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto said in an interview with Croatian television N1.
“When we see that all the preconditions have been created, then the visit will take place. But now we are at the stage of its technical preparation,” Szijjarto said (quoted by TASS).
The minister recalled that Orban spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the EU summit, which took place in Brussels on February 9.
Earlier, the Hungarian publication Népszava reported with reference that Zelensky held talks with the Hungarian Prime Minister and invited him to visit Kyiv as part of the summit.
At the end of January, Orban said that Hungary was watching with concern the supply of arms to Ukraine and was afraid that some of the EU countries would send troops there. Budapest also supported China’s plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. This document was previously criticized by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, since it does not contain a clause on the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine.
In the spring of 2022, the Hungarian Prime Minister announced that he had invited Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone to Hungary for talks. According to Reuters, the presidents of Ukraine and France, as well as the German chancellor, should also take part in the negotiations, he said.
