Booed throughout the match, the Australian coach had fun with the situation after the match.
A good-natured audience and a great atmosphere during this large victory for Australia against Georgia (35-15). Everyone received support from the public at the Stade de France. All except one.
Eddie Jones experienced an “ordeal” at the Stade de France. Booed by 70,000 people from the presentation of the teams before the match, the Australian coach was whistled as soon as he appeared on the giant screen at the Stade du France. A situation which nevertheless amused the main person concerned at a press conference.
“Apparently I’m not popular here, smiled Eddie Jones. There are those who are and those who are not. I’m one of those who are not popular here (in Paris) but that doesn’t bother me (laughs)“.
It must be said that the 63-year-old manager has enough to have some enemies. Before this victory, Australia had five consecutive losses under his reign. The Australian coach was also the coach of the XV de la Rose for a long time (2015-2022), historic rival of the XV of France. And the French public has not forgotten that.
