NARRATIVE – Located near Paris, the castle, which served as the residence of the President of the Republic until 2018, is releasing furniture ordered by Vincent Aurio.
With its 30 rooms, its park and a popular pheasant hunt, the Rambouillet castle was a very prominent presidential residence. From the end of the 19th centurye century until 2018, the estate, located near Paris, delighted a series of Presidents of the Republic, Sadi Carnot has Valéry Giscard d’Estaing via Vincent Auriol. “The castle has always provided a space of privacy for presidents,” explains Isabelle de Gourcuff, administrator of the place.
Ancient feudal residence, remodeled by Francis Ier – who died in one of the towers -, redeveloped by the Count of Toulouse in the 18th centurye century, used mively by Louis XVI for his hunts, then partly redecorated by Napoleon Ier, Rambouillet bears the decorative traces of its glorious former owners. 18th century woodworke of the ground floor or the newly restored apartments of the Emperor bear witness to this.
Obviously, we had to wait a few centuries for a semblance of comfort to make its appearance…
