The native of Rome improved by more than a kilometer the previous record of the Dutchwoman Ellen van Dijk (49.254 kilometers), which dated May 23, 2022.

A historic record

She is thus the first cyclist to p the symbolic barrier of 50 kilometers covered in one hour. Bussi, aged 36, had already held this record between September 2018 and September 2021, with 48.007 km covered in sixty minutes, already on the Aguascalientes track.

For men, the record has belonged since October 2022 to his compatriot Filippo Ganna with 56.798 kilometers.
