In Saturday’s match of the 5th round of the Italian football league, Juventus Turin, with Wojciech Szczęsny in goal, lost away to Suolo 2:4. This is the first defeat of the “Old Lady” in Serie A this season.
Juventus led to a draw twice, but the disastrous ending resulted in the team returning to Turin without a point. Armand Lauriente and Domenico Berardi scored goals for Suolo in the first half. During the first goal, Szczęsny made a big mistake by punching the ball so much that it bounced off the turf and fell into the net between his legs.
The guests responded with an own goal by Matias Vina and a goal by Federico Chiesa in the 78th minute.
Four minutes later, the hosts were winning again. This time, Szczęsny could also have behaved better. He hit the ball in front of himself and was beaten by Andrea Pinamonti from close range. A moment later, Arkadiusz Milik entered the field, but he did not change the fate of the match. In stoppage time, the result was decided by another own goal, this time by Federico Gatti.
Paweł Dawidowicz also had no reason to be happy on Saturday. His Verona lost away to AC Milan 0-1. Rafael Leao scored the goal in the eighth minute.
In the table, Milan is level on points with the leader Inter Milan, but they will play their match on Sunday away against Empoli of Sebastian Walukiewicz, Bartosz Bereszyński and Iwo Kaczmarski, who close the ranking. Juventus dropped to fourth place, two points away from the leader.
Also on Sunday, Napoli, defending champions led by Piotr Zieliński, will play away against Bologna by goalkeeper Łukasz Skorupski. (PAP)
